Instant Pot Iced Tea {Pineapple Flavor}

by Sophie

It’s summer and I have this amazing Instant Pot iced tea recipe for your respite. It’s sweet, has a strong tropical flavor (yay, pineapple) and tastes really good. And, guess what! It takes just 3 minutes to make this summer-special drink in an instant pot.

Instant Pot Iced Tea:

I am kind of experimenting with more flavors – my favorites ones are pineapple, lavender and lemon-mint as of now. Undoubtedly, this is a super-easy, hands-off method and even better than the old-fashioned hot or cold brewing method. Ladies and gentlemen – my version of Instant pot iced tea in pineapple flavor.

For the “Summer Drinks” challenge hosted by “Food for Feast” group, this is my share. I am happy that I could be able to photograph something that I have been making for past one year so that my readers can have a documented recipe for Instant pot iced tea in pineapple flavor.

Instant Pot Iced Tea Recipe:

For making this recipe, you will need:

Ingredients for Iced Tea:

1 big bag of herbal green tea (iced tea bags for 1 gallon of water) or four bags of regular green tea bags, 1 tsp of sugar-free sweetener of choice, a pinch of baking soda(optional) and mint and lime/lemon juice to serve

Ingredients for Instant Pot Iced Tea {Pineapple Flavor}

For Pineapple flavored ice tea recipe, you will need:

Everything listed above, and two cups of fresh or canned crushed pineapple and 2-4 tbsps of sugar or 1 tbsp of maple syrup to sweeten the drink.

How to Make Iced Tea in Instant Pot?

  • Put the instant pot in saute mode. Now add crushed pineapple and sweetener of choice. Stir well and add six cups of water, tea bags, and close the lid.
  • Set pressure cook for three minutes.
  • Allow natural pressure release for 15 minutes for a mellow yet strong tea flavor. Or, quick release pressure after 5 minutes of rest time after pressure cooking if you want a sweeter tea.
  • Allow it to come to room temperature.
  • Serve on ice, and with fresh mint leaves, lemon slices or with few drops of freshly squeezed lime juice.
  • Enjoy.

Iced Tea in Instant Pot vs. Stove-top:

Well, there is nothing wrong in the traditional stovetop method of brewing a batch of tea or even the col-brew method. What I have found is the Instant pot ice tea making is:

  • Easier and literally, no attentions required
  • No need to bring the water to a boil
  • Dump-push-start method
  • Perfect temperature for brewing as at 212F inside the pressure cooker, water doesn’t come to a boil.
  • Even though the tea is being steeped for a longer time (including the 10-minute of natural pressure release), it’s never bitter.
  • If using green tea like me, adding a pinch of baking soda really takes away even that tiniest of the bitter flavor from this ice tea.
  • Plus, if you are using a fresh fruit like me, the flavors really infuse magically together making it a perfect iced tea.

However, the water boils vigorously when we make tea in stove top and tea releases a bitter flavor when brewed for a long time in high-degree water. And, you will have to stand there to make that perfectly brewed iced tea. Here is an amazing article on Instant Pot tea brewing tips.

How many servings does this Instant pot tea recipe makes?

This recipe makes a little over 8 servings, thanks to the pineapple juice released from the fruit pulp.

What flavors go well with this iced tea?

Iced tea, in my opinion, tastes great in all cooling and fresh flavors. Floral notes of lavender, refreshing mint and citrusy, and tropical fruit flavors go really well with iced tea. You can either add fresh fruit puree, slices, syrup or brew the tea together with crushed fruit for a fruit-infused iced tea.

What does the addition of baking soda do ?

Reply
Sophie June 28, 2019 - 5:41 pm

It takes away the bitterness actually. But it’s an optional choice.
