Tips & Tricks to Make the Masala Guava with Kasundi

While putting this dish together is super easy, you might want to have these little tips and tricks handy.

  • Make sure you clean the guava thoroughly before chopping it. You can peel the guava or leave the peel all- it all depends on your personal preference.
  • If you are a fan of spicy flavors, you can also add some chopped green chillies into the mix.
  • If you want to cut down the heat in this recipe, you can reduce the amount of red chili powder you’re using, or just stick to using Kashmiri red chili powder, which has a bright red color, but doesn’t have as much of the heat.
  • To balance out the tanginess and heat from the spices, you can add a bit of sugar into the chaat and let it sit for a while before serving.
  • Another great idea is to add a bit of mint or coriander chutney into the mix, along with the other ingredients. This will lend the guava pieces an incredible flavor.
  • If you want to try an effortless, minimal version of this dish, just season the chopped guava with a bit of chaat masala powder and some kasundi and give it all a good mix.
  • To bring a bit of texture to the dish, you can top it with some crunchy sev.
