Ingredients For the Recipe

You’ll need three sets of ingredients to make these minced lamb pastries and the spicy mango dressing. 

For the minced lamb

  • Oil: 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds: ½ tsp
  • Dried Fenugreek leaves: 1 tsp
  • Green chilies (chopped): 2 tbsp
  • Onions (finely chopped): ½ cup
  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 tbsp
  • Peas: ¼ cup
  • Turmeric powder: A pinch
  • Red chili powder: 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder: ½ tbsp
  • Cumin powder: ½ tbsp
  • Garam masala: 1 tsp
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon or as per required
  • Minced lamb: 1.5 cups
  • Coriander leaves (chopped): For garnish

For the pastry

  • Pastry sheets: 3-4
  • Prepared minced lamb

For the spicy mango dressing

  • Raw mango (roughly chopped): 1 cup
  • Red chili powder: 1 tsp
  • Black salt: ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice: 1 tsp
  • Green chilies: 2
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Water: 3-4 tbsp

How to Make the Minced Lamb Pastries

Once you have all your ingredients ready, here’s what you’ll need to do to make the pastries. 

Take oil, cumin seeds and green chilies in a pan and saute

Heat oil in a pan. Add the cumin seeds and green chilies.

Add fenugreek seeds to the pan and saute

Add the dried fenugreek leaves. Saute.

Add chopped onions to the pan

Next, add the onions and mix well. Cook for 30 seconds.

Add ginger garlic paste to the pan

Add the ginger garlic paste and saute.

Add green peas to the pan

Add the peas next and cook for 1 minute.

Add powdered spices to the pan

Add all the powdered spices and saute. Cook for 30-40 seconds.

Add minced lamb with chopped coriander leaves and mix well

Next, add the minced lamb and cook until it turns golden brown.

Place the pastry sheet and stuff it with the lamb mixture

Take the pastry sheets and stuff them with the prepared lamb filling.

Fold the pastry from the other side

Close the ends well by crimping the edges and securing them properly.

Seal it with the folk and bake it

Brush the pastries with butter.

Preheat the oven and transfer the stuffed pastries to the oven. Bake at 180°C for 45 minutes or until the pastry turns golden brown.

While making these pastries may seem easy and straightforward, you might want to have these little tips and tricks handy to make sure you get those flavors and textures spot on! 

  • To enhance the flavors of the meat filling, you can also add a bit of curry powder into the mix. 
  • To add a nice shine and glaze to the surface of the pastries, you can brush them with some whisked egg instead of the butter. 
  • A little garlic powder thrown into the filling can again, be a great way to amp up the flavors and deliciousness of the pastries. 
  • Want the lamb mixture to have a tangy taste? Add some tomato paste to it to lend it some of that savory juiciness.

  • 4 pcs Pastry Sheets
  • 1 bowl Prepared Minced Lamb

Instructions

  • Heat oil in apan. Add the cumin seeds and green chilies.
  • Add the dried fenugreek leaves. Saute.
  • Next, add the onions and mix well. Cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste and saute.
  • Add the peas next and cook for 1 minute.

  • Take the pastry sheets and stuff them with the prepared lamb filling.
