Frequently Asked Questions

What Else Can I Add to the Yogurt Chocolate Mousse?

To make this yogurt chocolate mousse healthier, you can top it with some chopped nuts of your choice. Almonds, pistachios and walnuts are perfect.
For some extra chocolatey goodness and a bit of texture, throw in some unsweetened chocolate chips or chocolate chunks. And if you fancy a bit of a different flavor, peanut butter chips and butterscotch chips are both great options.

How Do I Store the Leftovers?

Your leftover yogurt chocolate mousse can be refrigerated for up to 2 days, if not longer.
I would recommend finishing it up within 2 days though, as the yogurt can start to get tangy with time.
Remember to cover it up with some cling wrap or an airtight lid to keep it fresh.

Tips & Tricks to Make the Yogurt Chocolate Mousse

Ready to give this easy recipe a try? Wait up! Take note of these little tips and tricks too.

  • While you can use regular yogurt for this recipe, I would recommend using Greek yogurt for an extra protein punch.
  • Remember to strain the yogurt and get rid of the excess liquid before you add the chocolate syrup in. This will ensure that the mousse is nice and creamy, and doesn’t end up all watery.
  • If the mousse has become watery, you can add in a spoonful of protein powder to thicken it up.
  • If you’re using Greek yogurt, make sure you use the unflavored, unsweetened variety.
  • If you’re using sweetened Greek yogurt, choose unsweetened cocoa powder instead of the chocolate sauce, or the mousse will end up being overly sweet.
  • Make sure you allow the mousse to set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, if not longer. It is best to refrigerate this overnight ideally. This will help it get to that perfect, creamy and spoonable consistency you’re looking for.

Serving Ideas & Suggestions

This rich and creamy yogurt chocolate mousse can be enjoyed as a dessert or a sweet treat at any time of the day.

To take it up a notch, you can also top it with some whipped cream and fresh berries.
