Tips & Tricks to Make the Caramel Puffed Rice Balls

Before you jump into the recipe, you might want to take note of these little tips and tricks too. They will really help you nail the recipe.

  • If you don’t have the caramel that the recipe calls for you can simply melt a bit of powdered jaggery or sugar in the pan along with a touch of ghee or butter and cook it until it turns into the golden brown, just like caramel.
  • Remember to use a good quality nonstick pan for this recipe. This will help keep the caramel from sticking to the pain or ending up getting burned.
  • If you are making this for the first time, I would recommend using gloves while handling the hot puffed rice bowls.
  • Even if you are using gloves, remember to grease  the gloves with a bit of water to keep the caramel from sticking to the gloves.
  • I would recommend using a high quality non-stick pan to make these puffed rice balls. This will help keep the caramel from burning and sticking to the pan.
  • Remember to keep the heat low while making these caramel puffed rice balls.
  • If you don’t have cardamom powder, you can choose to add almond extract or vanilla extract instead, just to bring in some extra flavor to the rice balls.
  • You can also add some honey butter, almond butter, mini chocolate chips or dried coconut flakes to the puffed rice balls mixture.
