Spring is all about colors, freshness and blooms. This season brings a sense of joy and some fun festivities that welcome people of all ages to participate and celebrate the rebirth on the earth. To celebrate this beautiful season, I have created these colorful smoothies that you can enjoy for breakfast or serve to your guests as a healthy dessert as a part of your Easter meal. My healthy smoothie bowls are loaded with nutrition and full of flavors to satisfy your sweet tooth and fulfill your health goals.

If you have read my recipe posts of some of the veggie chips from the veggie chips series, then you know the importance of eating more fruits and vegetables in your diet. If not, here is it again.

Healthy smoothies

If you have ever been to a nutritionist, then you must know how important it is to include two third of our plate with fruits and veggies. Vegetables are low in calorie, less in fat and high in fiber, which certainly make them perfect for including in a weight loss diet. Apart from offering the best nutritional benefits, there are many other reasons to include more veggies in your diet. Including rainbow colored vegetables provides tremendous health benefits too. Eating more vegetables will lower the risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. These fiber rich foods have tremendous effect on lowering the risk of type-2 diabetes. Although vegetables have carbs, they seem lowering blood sugar even after consumption. (if you don’t munch on more starchy vegetables such as potatoes). People with high blood pressure will be benefited because vegetables are high in potassium. High potassium also reduces the risk of kidney diseases too. Read more here.

Sometimes, we run out of recipes and find those salads and grilled veggies quite unappetizing for our palate. I often face this when my palate craves for something sweet, yet healthy and delicious. This is when I quickly whip up a smoothie bowl and top it with some awesome super foods, seeds and nuts to make it a complete and wholesome breakfast, lunch or even snack bowl. I kind of don’t like to eat a smoothie bowl for dinner yet.

Healthy smoothies

Health Benefits:

Each bowl of smoothie bowls are loaded with nutrition, vitamins, minerals, good pigments(beta carotene and similar plant pigments, and a huge amount of fiber. To make it more wholesome and nutrition dense, I often add some superfoods powder like this and this. Sometimes, I add chia seeds to my smoothie too. It always depends on you how you want to design your smoothie bowl. The idea is to make it colorful and extremely appetizing visually and for your palate too.
