Air-fryer tortilla chips

Low carb air-fryer tortilla chips are so easy to make at home when you have store-bought tortillas handy. The process is very simple and all you need is some homemade or store-bought tortillas and an air-fryer to crisp them into low-carb tortilla chips. Are you ready? Let’s check the recipe!

Making your own tortilla is fun and rewarding. But for low-carb chips, I prefer store bought tortillas over the homemade ones. I have these keto flax paratha and zucchini Roti options that are perfect for keto dieters.

But a low-carb tortilla like Mission’s carb balance or Thrive Market’s coconut flour tortillas are perfect for this recipe. Plus, you save a lot of time as well.

Tortilla chip triangle

These homemade tortilla chips taste so much better and is healthier for you. Enjoy them with some homemade cottage cheese dip or with some guacamole. Here are some of my other air-fryer recipes that you will love.

I am using my Instant Pot Vortex XL for this recipe. I have tried this in my other air fryers as well, which works perfectly too. The best part of this homemade tortilla chips is that you can add your own seasoning to your liking and customize them as well. That means, you can make flavorful and crisp ones. With my Instant Pot Vortex air-fryer, the cooking part is effortless.

Tasty and crispy tortilla chips

For this recipe I used Mission’s low carb tortillas.  Start by choosing your tortillas. You may use coconut wraps as well. But they cook way faster than these Mission carb balance tortillas. Cut the tortillas into triangles and toss them with just a little bit of oil. I prefer avocado oil since we will air-Fry the tortillas at high temperature like 350F. But feel free to use other cooking oil as per your choice.

How to Make Low Carb Tortilla Chips?

Ingredients:

Low Carb Tortillas, 1 tablespoon Avocado Oil, Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions for making homemade low-carb tortilla chips in an air fryer:

  • Preheat the air fryer for 5-minutes at 350F.
  • Take a few tortillas and lay them on a chopping board. Use a pizza cutter to make triangles out of the tortilla.
  • Take the triangles in a basket, add a little avocado oil, season with salt and pepper. Other seasoning choices include Mexican seasoning blend, taco seasoning, and even just oregano.
  • Add the tortilla triangles in a single layer on the Vortex XL’s rack.
  • Spray a little cooking oil on top of the chips.
  • Air fry for about 6 minutes at 350°F
  • Flip the chips after 6-minutes and continue to air-fry for additional 2-3 minutes
  • Remove the chips from the air fryer and allow them to cool down. Based on desired crispiness, you may increase or decrease the air-fryer cooking time.
  • Follow the same process to make tortilla chips from rest of the tortillas.
  • Serve with your favorite dip and store the air fryer chips in an air-tight container

Notes

  • Adding seasoning to the tortilla chips is optional. But adding them certainly enhances the flavor.

Great timing and temperature! I used regular corn tortillas cut in quarters and they were delicious! Much better than normal chips! WOW!
