I used fresh ginger for the recipe, but if you don’t have it, you can use a pinch of dried ginger powder instead.
Fresh lemongrass can also be a wonderful addition to this herbal tea.
And if you want the tea to have a bit of a sweet flavor, you can add a whole cardamom into it while you’re brewing the tea. side view of basil ginger tea

Tips & Tricks to Make the Basil Ginger Tea

Ready to make this basil ginger tea from scratch?  Here are a few tips and tricks you might want to take note of as well.

  • Based on your personal preference, you can use full fat or low fat milk. I would really recommend using full fat milk for that rich and creamy flavor.
  • You can also experiment with other teas by swapping your regular tea leaves with any other specialty tea leaves. Just make sure they aren’t flavored and don’t have any other artificial flavors added in as it can mess up the herbal and  soothing flavors of the tea.
  • You can also try a vegan version of this recipe. All you’ll need to do is swap the dairy milk with any plant-based milk of your choice. I would recommend almond milk or oat milk since they have the best flavors that work well along with the other ingredients of this recipe.
  • To make the tea healthier, you can swap the sugar in the recipe for any other healthier, natural sweetener of your choice. If you’re using honey, make sure you add it in towards the end.
  • If you want to try a caffeine-free version of this drink, you can skip brewing the tea and just the other ingredients, except the milk.
