Ingredients

Ingredients For the spicy nuts mixture

  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • ½ cup Peanuts/Groundnuts
  • ½ cup Almonds (halved)
  • 5 tablespoon Sesame Seeds
  • 5 tablespoon Watermelon Seeds
  • ¼ cup Curry Leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1.5 tablespoon Salt

Ingredients For the Chidva

  • 2 cups Flattened Rice
  • 1 cup Prepared Spicy Nuts Mixture

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add the peanuts and almonds and saute. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Next, add the sesame seeds and watermelon seeds. Saute and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the curry leaves and saute.
  • Add in the powdered spices next and mix well.
  • Cook the nuts mixture until the nuts turn crunchy.
  • Cook the nuts mixture until the nuts turn crunchy.
  • Spread the flattened rice evenly on a baking tray. Bake them in the oven for 5-7minutes at 180℃ or until they turn golden brown in color.
  • Once the flattened rice is ready, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add in teh spicy nuts mixture and mix well.
  • Store in an airtight container and enjoy with some tea as an evening snack.
