Ingredients

  • 1 pack of Sweet Earth® Awesome Grounds
  • 2 2 Serrano peppers (deseeded)
  • 3-4 Large garlic cloves
  • ½ Red onion (medium-sized) (approx ½ cup chopped)
  • 1 Inch Ginger (peeled and roughly chopped)
  • ½ cup Cilantro (washed and roughly chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika
  • ¼ Cayenne pepper ground
  • 1 teaspoon Curry powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Melted vegan ghee or butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to baste and grill

To Serve

  • Pita bread or any flatbread
  • Vegan Tzatziki
  • Cucumber, and tomato salad, Chopped cilantro, Lemon wedges

Instructions

  • In a food processor, take all herbs, spices, and salt. Process till finely minced.
  • Now add tomato paste, and process well.
  • Add ghee and Sweet Earth Awesome Grounds and process till all the ingredients are mixed well in the grounds.
  • Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
  • Heat a seasoned grill pan and brush it with oil.
  • Grease your palms and take a ball sized mixture in your palm. Carefully, flatten and make long patties of out it. Use the same process to make patties from the rest of the mixture.
  • Now cook the patties on the grill pan for about 7-8 minutes and then flip and cook for another 7 minutes. These patties took around 14-16 minutes to cook thoroughly. Baste with oil in between cooking so that they don’t dry out.
  • Transfer to cooked patties onto a plate.
  • Warm pita bread and add a patty. You may also slice the patty and use it as gyro strips.
  • Now add chopped cucumber and tomato salad, vegan tzatziki, and lime juice.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store the grilled patties in a freezer bag for up to a month. Reheat in the microwave or air fry them right before serving.
  • If you want a mildly spiced gyro, then reduce the Serrano peppers and chili powder.

Vegan Tzatziki:

  • Take 1 ½ cup of vegan yogurt and add the juice of ¼th of a lemon.
  • Season with salt and pepper and ¼ teaspoon pounded garlic.
  • Add ½ cup of grated and drained cucumber and mix well.
  • Mix in chopped dill and cilantro.
  • Drizzle some olive oil and serve with the vegan gyros.
