  • Instant pot

  • ¼ cup homemade ghee + 1 tbsp
  • cup Cracked Wheat or Dalia fine variety
  • ¼ cup nuts and dried fruits almonds & golden resins(roughly pounded or chopped)
  • ½ tablespoon whole spices 2 cloves, 5-6 cardamom seeds and 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cups warm water
  • ½ cup jaggery powder more if you like sweeter
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts to garnish

  • Set the Instant pot duo to sauté mode and melt ghee. Add spices followed by dalia|fada to the pot.
  • Roast till it becomes golden brown and fragrant.
  • To avoid burning, keep stirring the grains after adding to the pot.
  • Once the dalia|daliya is roasted well, add pounded nuts and dried fruits and sauté. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Now add warm water and jaggery, mix well.
  • Seal the instant pot and pressure cook on high pressure for 11 minutes.
  • Once the pressure releases naturally, open the pot and stir well.
  • Add 1 tablespoon ghee now and mix well.
  • Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm.

  • If you see some water after pressure cooking, the grains rest and they will soak the water. If there is still water, set the IP to the sauté mode and dry out the water while stirring continuously.
  • If you want to make it a vegan dessert, replace ghee with coconut oil. You may also add a tablespoon of freshly grated coconut while sautéing.
